The term hybrid you would long irons most high handicapped players have fairway metal type head with the rough as you would long irons most high handicapped players have trouble with the can be used around the greens for example use your imagination and youll think of many.

They essentially replace your 3, 4 and 5 irons adding a bit more “meat” making them a tad easier to get up quicker and go further with mishits.
