How to know what club to use at any given situation on the Golf course? What are the parts on the Golf Course?
April 3rd, 2010 | by admin |Okay, I just bought my first set of Golf clubs last night from Dick’s Sporting goods. It came with a 1 Wood, 3 Wood, 3i Hybrid, about every Iron that you need, a Pitching Wedge and a Putter.
I don’t understand why you need so many clubs. Like there’s a 9 Iron, a 4, Iron, 5, 6,7,8, etc. I don’t understand what they all are used for. There’s also two things that look like another Driver. I at least understand that the 1 Wood is the Driver since it’s so large and you tee off with it.
It’s just all the little Irons that I don’t get. there’s so many, but what are they used for? If someone could explain to me what they’re importance is that’d be great.
Also, there’s so many different names on a Golf course. Fairway, Rough, Green, and a few others but that’s all I could think of. I don’t know what they all mean except I think the Fairway is where your ball should land after you swing.
And finally scoring. There’s an Eagle, Boogie, Double Boogie, Par (What you should get on the hole), Hole in one (Obvious) and a few more. What do they each mean and how many points does each on get? I understand that the lowest score is the winner, but that’s about it.
If someone can explain all of this to me before Saturday, that’d be excellent. Hopefully, Sat. will be my first time on a 18 hole golf course. So knowing all that I can will be benefitial.
Thanks again!
