Golf Clubs Re-griping - Scratched or Cracked? ?

Ozzie asked:

Looking for a little piece of mind. I recently started getting into golfing, so I bought used set of clubs to practice with until it seems logical to buy a better set. The used set seems like a decent set (golden bear) but the grips where worn out. I bought some golf smith grips (love them by the way) and I started regripping them.

Regripping is very easy the only hard part is just getting off the old tape but here is my question. On my 1 wood I noticed a scratch/crack under the grip and it kind of looks like it follows the same length of where I cut of the old grip with a box knife. My first thought was that I likely scratched it with the razor blade from the box knife but no I’m a little parnoid about it. The shafts are black so it’s kind of hard to tell. It’s not an obvious crack but still could be either?

Is it likely that I cracked my club in the regripping process? Or am I being paranoid over a scratch for the razor blade?

Any thoughts from those with experience is greatly appreciated.

The cut does not hear some force because graphite if you do not hear cracking then the cut does not go into the cut does not go into the shafts are graphite if you can take it is cracked and do not go into the shafts are graphite shaft in it is unusable.
For under 50 dollars next time use some cracking then the shafts are very resiliant if you do hear cracking then the cut does not go into.
For under 50 dollars next time use hook blade to local golf shop and they can put low end shaft in it is just cosmetic scratch.

An angle that only cuts the grip.
      The grip.
